Doggie Days

Christian and Jake went over to the park in our neighborhood to practice punting (apparently Christian doesn't want to look stupid in front of his brothers at the next family reunion, so he's been practicing). Well, about 30 minutes later, the front door opens and in leaps this little brown dog. I knew the moment I saw that dog in our house that Christian was behind it. So, I waited by the door until Christian finally came sneaking in. Apparently they found the dog at the park and Christian "felt responsible for him until he could find the dog's owners." Well, after about 30 more minutes of play time in the back yard with beef jerky, the owners showed up and collected their little mutt. These pictures might appear as if Oliver is an avid dog-lover like his dad, but I'm telling you, he wouldn't even get near that thing without some serious coercing.

Yes, Oliver was in full anti-dog mode- wouldn't even get on it's back.

The Dog Whisperer...

Still not loving it...

Look at those tears! You would have thought he really liked that dog! (This is right after the owners came.)

Rebecca, you are funny! I love your commentary. Great stuff! I love how he wouldn't get near him and then is devastated when he leaves. Kids!

Rebecca, tell old Kook not to worry about the punting. There's not much he can do to challenge the champ. If he doubts it, he needs to give old Brennan a call to have him remind him.

Fun to see them with their doggy friend. Oliver can really arch his back, huh?

you guys should have seen him when that dog walked disappeared into its owner's car and Oliver realized what was happening. I've rarely seen him lose it that bad.

Also,I gave Oliver a piece of Slim Jim to feed to the dog and he didn't want to give it away. So the dog was all over him, licking and sucking on his hand, while Oliver was pulling out every evasion tactic he knows. Finally, Oliver stuffs the thing in his own mouth. Dog drool and all. Dang funny.

Isn't it funny when kids are afraid of dogs? It doesn't seem like there's any rhyme or reason to it - I mean, I understand when the dog is bigger than the kid and all... :) But anyway, Ben had a PARALYZING fear of dogs, (he's kind of grown out of it though.) And Spence is in LOVE with ALL DOGS. He chases them! I like your play-by-play pics. They are cute. Is Chris gonna get his wish for a dog any time soon? If I were you, I would NOT give in... :)

So when will you be getting a dog? :)

The amazing part is that Christian can still wear his shirts from six years ago. What to go gut-free Christian. Just call your t-shirts vintage and then you can wear them until that trend fades!

I think you should introduce Ollie to some snakes, tigers, and tarantulas next. I mean, only if you want him to like dogs eventually because dogs have nothing on those guys. i hate dogs too- way to go Ollie. And, I love that you totally threw Christian under the bus on the football comment. :)
