"There's No Place Like Home"

No, we didn't go to our respective "homes" for Thanksgiving this year. We stayed in our home in Albuquerque and celebrated with our friends, the Alders. After dinner and a movie (Be Kind, Rewind- loved it), we settled down for a game of Trivial Pursuit. I used to hate this game when I was a kid, but it was so fun last night! On a pivotal pie moment in the game, Christian and I missed the question, "What does Dorothy say in the Wizard of Oz to get "home?" Ahhh! The sad thing is that Christian went on to answer some real doozies that only contestants on Jeopardy should know. Such as, "What is the name of the tent-like structure that nomadic people in Eastern Asia use?" Answer: yurt. What the???!!! Anyway, we beat the Alders- soundly. And if it weren't for the sports questions in the game, we would have beat them even more soundly. :) Thanksgiving was great this year and so cozy. Eric did the most beautiful carving job on a turkey I have ever seen, Rachel made the yummiest stuffing and 7-layer jello, and we even had some banana cream pie to top it off!

Pre-dinner play. It was a cold, rainy Thanksgiving day.

Eric getting ready to carve the bird.

Rachel set this beautiful table and even made the adorable place cards.

Worn out after a stunning victory at Trivial Pursuit.:)

Had Christian not assaulted a fellow munchkin when he was a second grader, he wouldnt have been kicked out of "The Wizard of Oz" play and would have guessed that line.

It sounds like you guys had a great Thanksgiving, and I'm so glad. We miss you!

LOL Brade! Funny, last night we were showing Ange's kids that "Ozz" video, and had to explain to them why Chris wasn't in any of the scenes. You knew this black stain would someday come back to haunt you Chris.

What a cute picture of Oliver all bundled up. We missed you, but are glad your day was great!

Very funny, Brade!!! Mom explained how we had to rehearse Chris's dark past to Anna, Abby and Nate, the looming skeleton in the family closet. How funny!!

Thanks for the pictures. It makes me so homesick for you to see that picture of OLLIE. What a guy he is. I love him and miss him and miss you both so much. We've had a great time, but it's not the same without you. There is too much separation in life.

Thanks so much for posting and letting us know what you did and getting a "flavor" of your Thanksgiving.

lol, Bird. The irony hadn't occured to me until you very rudely pointed it out. I've seen wizard of oz plenty though and know "there's no place like home" but was having the most maddening brain freeze. Maybe if i'd had a kind older brother who had helped me learn to channel my thespianic genius instead of humiliating me in front of all Farmington's youth, maybe then I would have remembered the line.

I'm so mad, I thought you guys went up to Utah! We totally wanted to see you guys too! Bummer, but it was actually a really quick trip anyway. We'll be back sometime in December though, maybe we can catch you guys then. Looks like a fun thanksgiving and way to go with your victory! ;)

LOL, Kook. I tried, I really tried. To be fair, though, you were much more intrigued by Tad than anything I had to teach you.

Trivia- wow. I can't remember the last time I've been in a group that was willing to play trivia. You guys are lucky.

By the way, I guess I just assumed that everyone in Albuquerque lived in Yurts. Am I wrong?

Don't you ever again come on my blog and use the word fat to describe yourself or I will drive over there and punch you in the nose.

With that out of the way...your table looked ADORABLE and I love that little "Harvest" sign in the window. So cute. Glad you had a fun, relaxed Thanksgiving with friends and games and good food. That's what it's all about (who needs family!?!). :)

that ? you missed about dorothy would have been the only one i got right. i can't stand that game because it reminds me how terrible my memory is and just makes me feel plain dumb. glad you kept with the banana cream pie tradition.

What a fun Thanksgiving! After Jordan killing everybody in "Whos seen it" last week in GA -he may give you a run for your money in Trivia! ha...but probably not with Christians insane memory for random things.
