"A Series of Unfortunate Events..."

Ok, so I've been a negligent poster as of late because we LOST OUR CAMERA! And, what fun is it to post with no pictures?? To shed some light on the title of this post, let me start at the beginning. Christian dropped his phone in a water bucket while washing windows about a month or so before Christmas. We got him a new Blackberry because we figured with a new business and him being on the road a lot, it would really help out to reduce the amount of work he had to do from home. As we were checking out at Verizon, the salesman happened to mention something about phone insurance. I'm not a typical warranty-buying, full coverage insurance card-carrying person, but I knew given our rotten luck with phones, this might be a necessity. THANK GOODNESS. Christian dropped his NEW phone in to a bucket of water AGAIN two days ago. One $50 deductible later, he had a new Blackberry. Whew! Now, let's backtrack. Christmas was fabulous- truly relaxing and wonderful in every way. On Christmas day, we were taking pictures of the kids playing "Ring Around the Rosy." Next thing I know, our camera has all but disappeared into thin air. GONE. We looked everywhere, sent out an S.O.S. to Christian's family (we spent Christmas in Utah with the Bells this year), but to no avail. We drove home to Albuquerque sans camera. The tragic thing is that this was an almost brand-new camera, and, hello, we are having a baby in a couple of months with no way to document it! I'm heartbroken for all the lost pictures that are on that camera and also that we now have no way of saving moments for our posterity until we get a new camera (which I don't see happening anytime in the near future). So, don't expect any razzle-dazzle posts in the near future either. On to more recent events. Yesterday, after days of putting off grocery shopping out of pure laziness, I finally made it out of the house. On the way to Wal-mart, I was taking a left when the sun jumped out from behind the trees and blinded me. I ran over a huge curb and my front tire went completely flat in about 5 seconds. I called Christian who came right over, no chiding and no complaints, and changed my tire. Yep, he's a good one. So, I drove to Wal-mart again today to see if their tire dept. can fix my tire. Nope- bent rim. I take it to another place down the road. Instead of waiting there, I stick Oliver in the stroller and head down to Chick-fil-A for lunch. It's January 9th and I'm sweating as I walk down the street. Crazy. As I'm finding a seat in the full restaurant with my tray in one hand and stroller in the other, my tray slips and my delicious cookies and cream milkshake goes tumbling to the floor and splatters all over me and the table next to me. AHHHH! Not only was I really embarassed, but dripping with milkshake that I could obviously no longer enjoy the way I had been looking forward to! The day's not over yet, but Oliver had a total meltdown in Chick-fil-A, wouldn't eat anything, and was throwing himself all over the floor. Before I followed suit, I called Christian and asked if he could please come pick us up and drive us back to the tire store, b/c I had reached my limit for the day/week/month, which he so thougtfully did. As I write this, Oliver, who was SOOOOO tired at the restaurant, has been playing in his crib for the past 2 hours, without even an attempt at napping. And, I'm not getting him out until he does.

ha ha, you're so cute... what a funny day (well only funny to someone it wasn't happening to)! But hey, it could be worse... you could be called as a seminary teacher or something. :)

Oh Rebecca, what a majorly bummer day, and I guess month. I am so sorry about your camera, I will go on an extra diligent search again. Nothing adds to an awful day than a tired ornery kid, b/c not only is it not fun to deal with but then you feel like a horrible parent and that is really not fun. anyway, hope ollie sleeps for you.

Rebecca, I'm so sorry for all your misfortunes, but the way you wrote about them was really funny. I do hope your luck changes!

You are a very entertaining writer, but I'm so sorry that we all get to be entertained by your suffering! Lost things are the worst, they eat at me constantly until I find them. I will look extra hard too. Have you guys checked with Davis to see if it got into his stuff? The spilled shake is so sad, the curb, the meltdown, oh I feel your pain! Hopefully you've hit your quota and can have some smooth sailing for a while.

Geez. Good times...noodle salad.

I forgot you were pregnant! When are you due? Are you and Rach due around the same time?

Rebecca, this is so sad but so funny at the same time!! Definitely one of those days you will think back and laugh about. I have to say that I completely understand the whole losing your camera thing and having NO IDEA where it is because this same thing happened to us 2 Christmas's ago. We found it months later when I went back to visit and found it in a secret compartment under the seat of the recliner at my in-laws house! Bleh. Well I want to offer our camera to you guys. We just got a new one so I don't really need our old one for now, and you could have one on hand for when Baby Bells comes... let me know! Sorry about your day/week/month!! :)

Rebecca,
That's a horrible day. You gotta love toddlers. Lucy had the biggest meltdown of her life in Dairy Queen once when she was about that age. I was also pregnant, and it was SO embarrassing. (except I also had Madison & Caleb, so I'm sure people thought I was whacko). Anyway, it's fun to read about what's going on with you guys. It sounds like you'll get a camera from a friend? Hope so!

Something really good must be in store for you, with all those "unfortunate events" you have had. Keep your chin up!

Sad to lose your camera! I hate to lose things - esp pictures & things that can't be replaced. Hope it shows up somewhere.
I am sure you are glad that day is over! Hope you are feeling well and you the rest of your pregnancy goes well :)

Oh , wow! That is a horrible day. I would have been in tears. I am so sorry.

BTW, what kind of camera do you have? I know you didn't come to our house at all, but i wonder if we have the same kind and we picked up yours?? I guess then , there is still a camera missing somewhere, huh? Still, what brand is it?

Gosh I hate those kind of days! Anyway, it was so fun seeing you and ollie! And I still can't believe you said that you're "resigned to the fact that you aren't a cute pregnant woman" because you totally are! You look adorable!!!

The fact that you can write a witty blog about that day at all shows that you are AMAZING! I would still be in mommy-meltdown mode...(c: And I have to agree with Kara that you are an absolutely DARLING pregnant woman, so don't even try and deny it!

Y'know, I know you're still dealing with the loss of your camera and such, so it's probably hard to laugh yet. But one day, you'll think back and laugh at the milkshake incident, and the curb incident, and the phone in the bucket - and laugh. Maybe not at the camera thing though. 'Cuz that really sucks.
But that's life for ya - when it rains it pours. Not to add insult to injury, but I bet it didn't help at all that people at Chick-fil-A were probably staring at you, thinking, 'I can't believe she's having another one.' Hopefully not, but I'm just speaking from experience, b/c those are the stares I get these days. Maybe not for you with only 1 other one.
Sorry to blabber. Keep your head up! Hope you're having a better week so far!

Oh, and on a completely random sidenote, are you going to Texas to see Rachel? Maybe you're there already.
