Pagosapalooza 2009

Oliver, Jacob, and I went camping with my Bro in law, Jim, his three boys (London, Gabe, and Hayden), and his brothers Spencer, and Ken. We went to Pagosa Springs, on the border of New Mexico and Colorado. This place is one of the most beautiful on Earth. Our campsite was perfect because we were 70 yards from a cool river, but there was a tiny stream in between, which prevented the little boys from crossing, but gave them something to safely play in. We had a great time. Instead of a run down, I’m going to give a FUN DOWN! The Taskers are master fishermen, so they were doing that most the time. Ollie and Jacob and I got a lot of river dogging, reading, and great downtime in.

The place

The dude

Oliver's cousin Gabe is a verifiable lizard whisperer, and had caught a bunch of these horny toads. Oliver didn't like to pick them up, but always wanted one on his shirt for him to hang out with, so he was always begging everyone to take one from the box and put it on him.

He actually didn't like the big ones on him and was always asking for the one of the "baby lizard" variety, as seen here.

This comfy, versatile outfit is why women weren't allowed on the trip.

Buddies

Cousin buddies

Feat of strength. London has an Air Soft gun that was so awesome. And he was a crack shot with it. He shot this can off my head without incident from a good 30 or 40 ft away. We later devised a game where we shot each other on the run.

River King with his heir

More feats of strength. (you can stop watching at 30 seconds, nothing happens afterward.)

I'm so glad you posted about this. I was hoping you would. Your site looks like a paradise!

How cute to see the Oliver with his horny toad friend on his shirt.

"This comfy, versatile outfit is why women weren't allowed on the trip." Really funny!

My favorite photo-- the River King with his heir. So sweet!

Okay first of all you were killing me with your captions. That place was gorgeous! I couldn't believe it. Oliver is soooo cute, he is just such a good guy, hail fellow well met (is that the right expression?), what a cutie! looks like a blast.

I love that Ollie has his shoes on backwards in the "comfy clothes" pic...and do I detect some booger drool on his shirt?

Jacob is right about you jumping in that river...you are a numb nut.

Wow, looks beautiful. I really wish camping were just a little easier- once you're up there, you have to wonder why you don't do it all the time.

I loved seeing Oliver with the lizards on him. Awesome.

It's great to see you cross a freezing river without having to writhe in a fetal position afterward. You have really grown a lot.

By the way, you should change your settings for photo size in Blogger. Your photos are weak and small, like a little girl.

I love your captions. Hilarious. I didn't realize all this time that they were lizards....you know they brought them the GA so I have seen them plenty...but i guess I figure they were of the toad species. Crazy I know. They ARE called horny toads. Anyway that trip looks soooo fun and BEAUTIFUL.

Manzano Mesa Multicultural center close to Eubank and Central. I think we might go this next week if you are up for it. It's $13 for the family for a year pass, then it's just 50 cents each time you go. Thanks again for coming to Wendel's B-day. We had lots of fun:)
