Blast from the Past

Inspired by this post (my SIL), I decided I would do my own little "blast from the past."

The first time I saw this picture (which was only about a year ago) I was seriously struck by how similar Oliver and I looked. I also really like the pole-dancing move I was doing here.

Um, community bath anyone? The weird (and scary) part about this is there are 3 people in there with us that I don't even know. And this is not an illusion (though it may appear that way with the 80's-style bathtub and mirrors) but we were fully un-clothed.

I kid you not, my mom let me go out in public with this 'do. The 80's were not kind to us. But, wait, it gets worse...

Yep, that's me. Don't act like I'm not making this work. This is what I call the trifecta of 80's perfection: perm, mullet, acid-washed jeans. One word: h-o-t.

SO Dang funny. love it, thank you so much for brightening my day and making me laugh hard at the trifecta of 80's perfection, LOL. the sad part is you still look really cute and were a little girl, so I don't want to hear you even putting yourself in my league of "sweet spirit-ness" . and btw Oliver does look so much like you its spooky, and now we know he will be able to rock the mullet too.

those acid jeans seriously are fab! those are not strangers in the tubs, it's the white's!

emily-- those are not the whites. i asked mom and she said she didn't know who they were either. one of those girls has dark brown hair too!

There are only two kids in that tub I don't recognize...I think the third one you're referring to might be Claire?? :) Those perms were the highlight of my life.

LOL Rebecca! Fun photos. And wow, Oliver's resemblance with them is amazing. Two cute little kids!

That cracks me up how you mentioned how much you look like Oliver, because that was really my first thought and I can count on one hand how many times I have even seen the both of you. The community bath tub is awesome. I hope no one peed and I wonder if you guys really were cleaner, or more dirty after that one :) jk of course. i like keeping up with your blog even though we don't live there anymore. see ya!

It's a sad, sad day in this world when kids are too good to take naked baths with their neighborhood friends.

I have to agree with Eliza, that these pictures really are more adorable than awkward. The 80's were fun, weren't they? I'm having a really hard time watching some of these styles come back. I just don't know if I can use our hard earned money to buy my daughters things I have just now started to recover from. Funny post, you are hilarious.

So cute. lol, kook about all the neighbors bathing together. What kind of bathtub is that bathtub?

I love your cute haircut in that first one. I too had a short Dorthy Hamill cut for most of my childhood.

You gotta love the 80's! The pics of you were great...brought back lots of memories for me. My favorite 80's style was the t-shirt thing (I can't remember the name). You know the plastic ring you wound your t-shirt through to keep it from hanging too low... good times, good times!

L.O.L I cannot get over that mullett. I NEVER wanted to get into that bathtub after Dad put the live lobsters in there. Remember that? Maybe that's why I'm missing in that picture. Or maybe that's about when I entered the grown up stage of no more bathing with ALL of your siblings at the same time. I have a picture of our family in the bathtub in our Texas house (Dad included). Can't say I've done that with my own kids, nor will I ever.

AWESOME!!! I am hoping to get that haircut. It's sweet. I was just reading "Do Don't do Dumb Things" and I was looking at the pics Olli and the one where he is in Christian's lap with the winter sweater on.... OH MY GOSH -epiphany! He looks EXACTLY like Quincy!!! CRAZY!!!! Happy B-Day Amelia!
