It's Official: to Utah

So, I guess we should make an official announcement: Christian has accepted a job in Provo (yes, Provo) Utah! It's for a start-up company that he couldn't be more excited to work for. So, it's back to the old stomping grounds we go. Actually, we're hoping to find a home NOT in Provo- nothing against the place, it just kinda doesn't feel right to me to live there unless you're a student. They want Christian to start the first of June so we'll be packing up and moving towards the end of this month.
We are really so sad to be leaving New Mexico. We absolutely love our ward, our home, our friends, and the city of Albuquerque. We will really, really miss this place.

Congrats on the new job! I don't blame you for not wanting to buy a home in Provo! Seriously, every time you go to the grocery store on the weekend it's like the college student hang-out and forget about renting a movie! I still work in Provo, but I'm so glad to not have to live in Provo!

I'm so glad you guys are coming back to Utah. Our little group of friends gathered at Micah and Rachel's last night for a Cinco de Mayo party and let's just say that the numbers were few. I just bought a house in Pleasant Grove and love it. I work in Provo and the commute isn't bad, PG is small town while still having plenty of shopping (i.e. Costco and Target). So...you should consider PG. I need more friends close by.

Now your mom will have another reason to come visit in Utah . . . You and Julie (since Beau will be moving to CA the end of the summer!) What a busy time to move - the end of May with the weddings and all . . . Let me know if I can help you, maybe I could help with your kids . .. Love You! Connie

My husband and I will probably be in Utah in July. We should get the old gang together, I'd love to meet your kiddos.

What? No. You have to live in Provo.

Here's the deal: most of the city isn't student-town. Look in Oak Hills/Tree Streets, Indian Hills, Edgemont, and the Riverbottoms (some people even swear by Grand View.) We hardly ever see a student, unless we happen to wander down to the Smith's on 3rd and 2nd. And then gross.

Honestly, if you only think of Provo as where the students are, you are missing out on 95% of Provo.

If you want some idea of who you'll run into, here are some of my peeps:

cjane runs a great Provo blog. Featuring: the Somebody Actually Lives Here? series.

Prefer the urban farming/artistic crowd? Raquel is more your vibe.

Want the Cool Mom Crew? Kacy and Lisa have you covered.

Our schools are far better than the rest of Utah County (we have Mandarin, Spanish, and French immersion programs.) Our restaurants are top notch and ethnically varied. The populace is highly educated and diverse (for Utah County.)

We love it here, and it would be fun for you to be our neighbors! Come buy the house down the street. Promise you'll love Provo even more than you thought possible.

REBA! I had to hear it from Julie!!! How exciting to have a new beginning. But I am sure it's nerve racking at the same time. Now I have someone to visit in UT!

We just made the move too. It was hard to leave our life in Colorado behind but it is super fun to be here for everything with family! We are currently house hunting and have been for about 6 months. It has been challenging since we have no clue where we want to settle down! Good luck with your move!

Azucar,I actually agree. Provo is one of my favorite cities in UT. And after having gone up to look around this last weekend and seeing all the non-student parts of Provo, I think Reba is coming around too.

NOOOO!!!!!
Wait a sec, let me back up and first say that I'm totally excited and happy for you guys. It sounds like a great opportunity and it will be nice to be close to family.
However....I can't believe that I'm not even going to see you guys before you leave! That seriously devastates me! Life has been so crazy and hectic here that we haven't been able to get back to Abq in ages. And now, some of our favorite friends aren't even going to be there anymore! I'm so bummed we can't make it there to say bye to you guys. We'll miss seeing you when we go home to visit, but hopefully we'll be able to meet up again! Keep blogging! :)
